PREPARATION FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

Are you seeking for that illustrious bridal glow? I’m sure you are. As you walk down the aisle, you just want your guests to feast their eyes upon you. For such an occasion, looking good isn’t just enough. You need to look once-in-a-lifetime fabulous. Feeling pressurized? Fortunately, the one thing you can control on your wedding day is your bridal look. The stunning glow won’t just miraculously arrive in time for the big day. Careful planning and preparation work can ensure your most radiant self walks down that aisle. To avoid last minute beauty blunders – here’s what you need to do now, and what can wait until your final hours of single-hood…

~ Don't wait until the last minute to prepare your skin, hair and nails for your wedding ~

6 months or more before Wedding Day

It is the time now to deal with any skin problems that you have. Get rid of any acne, sun damage, scar or wrinkles. Book an appointment with Aesthetician/Dermatologist to find out how to treat your skin. Have a facial done by professionals every month and use facial masks weekly at home. For normal to oily/combination skin, clay mask will help to deep cleanse the skin and remove impurities. Good for treating acne or blemishes skin. For Normal to Dry / Dehydrated skin, use Gel, Cream or Hydration Mask alternate day or weekly depending on the level of dryness and dehydration. It will replenish lost moisture and keep skin supple. If skin look matures i.e. show signs of fine lines, use anti-ageing products. Use eye gel or cream daily to treat skin around the eyes. Sparkling eyes are beautiful. Take care of them.

Start a fitness and nutrition routine which you can live with and follow promptly until your wedding day and beyond. If you need some motivation, have those beautiful brides’ pictures cut out and paste them everywhere. Cutting calories often means cutting important nutrition. It’s hard to get all the nutrition you need if you are skipping meals, eating smaller portions or only selected foods. Exercise is one tool you have to apply to control your weight because exercise is a way to increase the number of calories that you burn off in a day. Exercise also strengthens the muscles and tones them up as weight loss can make muscles flabby and lose its elasticity. If you are going for dieting which I don’t recommend, please do consume some vitamins and minerals to replenish those that you lost. Beside diet, exercise, slimming products will assist in speeding the process.

As soon as you’ve found your gown, decide how you want to have your hair and makeup done for your big day. Start growing your hair if you think you’ll want it longer. Now is the time to test new looks. If you’re contemplating a drastic cut or color change, do it now and leave time to get used to your new hairdo otherwise change it back.

3 Months before Wedding Day

Avoid over exposure to the sun or tanning beds unless you prefer to be tan. This can cause your skin to become dry and sometimes discolored. You can have a sun-kissed glow but be careful not to get burnt. Be sure to apply sunscreen of at least an SPF 15 for those who wish to remain fair. Don’t forget your lips. If your lips are very dry/chapped, apply petroleum gel or lip balm on them and use a washcloth sloughs off dead cells. By this time, your skin should be in good condition. All you need to do is to maintain the daily beauty regimen. Continue to have your weekly own facial and monthly facial by the professional. Do not break or peel any pimple or acne to avoid scarring. Use blemish gel to dry them.

Now is the time to have monthly body scrub and body mask. It will remove the dead cell and rejuvenate your skin. Look radiant from top to bottom. Especially if you are wearing low-back gown, scrub every 2 days and apply toner if you have pimples problem on your back. Get the professional to treat your back.

This is probably the time where you will have your wedding shots. Prior to the shoot, visit a dentist to polish your teeth and also have your nails done. Photos are meant for your guests to see, so show your best. You will get a few images during your photo shoot. Be sure to note which image you like and tell the Makeup Artist your preference so she/he knows what to do on your wedding day. Communicate with your Makeup Artist such as what accessories, hairstyle etc so that there won’t be any hiccup on your day.

Do weekly protein and moisture treatments on your hair. The protein will bond and strengthen the hair and the moisture will add shine and elasticity. Trim your hair monthly to reduce split ends.

1 – 2 Weeks before Wedding Day

Book your Manicurist to ensure you get your nails done on your wedding day eve. Have your last facial and body care treatment by the professional to ensure all redness or last minute breakouts can be gone. Go for a waxing session too.
Visit your hairstylist to check on your hair if it needs to be trim or re-touch on the color.

Pack a small bag of tissue, blotter, plaster, mist spray, bobby pins, lip gloss, Vaseline, loose powder. You will need these items for touch-up during your Big Day.

Wedding Day Eve

Reduce salt intake so that you won’t get water retention. Have cooling mask to hydrate your skin. Go and have your nails done beautifully. Check on your gowns and wedding shoes. Ensure you have everything that you need the next day.
Lastly, sleep early.

Actual Day

If possible have cold shower to perk your skin. Have your breakfast – Avoid anything too fatty or salty. Instead, eat fibrous carbs and lean protein for energy before doing your makeup.
Drink water because all the entertaining, moving around especially if you are under the sun will drain you. Keep yourself hydrated.
Finally, Relax and Smile – You know you look fabulous!
